Here's
the short version:
A Lease (also known as a buy-back
or purchase-repurchase) is a brand-new car that includes
virtually all insurances, no deductible and a guarantee
of precisely the make & model you want. Accident, damage & theft
claim resolution is far simpler than with a rental. A lease
is much more economical for any period over 21 days than
virtually any rental with equivalent insurance coverage.
A Rental is an oft-used fleet
car whose price merely includes basic insurance with a
deductible and a host of optional additional coverage.
Resolution of accident, damage and theft claims is more
complex than with a lease. Rentals are available for periods
7 days or longer.

There is no such thing as an International Drivers License,
only an International Driving Permit, which is merely a translation
booklet allowing foreign-speaking authorities to examine & translate
the valid license from your home country. Any other form
of IDL/IDP, or anything costing more than $15, is unnecessary. |

On rentals, generally there IS a charge for an extra driver, but not always. The fees vary, so make
sure to ask our agents for the specific amount and it is best to call or e-mail us for further
information. You may call us toll-free at 800-223-1516, or send us an e-mail. |

Basic rates include third party liability and collision and theft insurance with a deductible. Renters may opt to pay for CDW (collision damage waiver) and/or TP/TLW (theft protection/theft loss waiver), which reduces the applicable deductibles. Your credit card may cover the original deductible for either collision insurance, theft insurance, or both, allowing you to decline the additional per day waivers for CDW and/or TP/TLW. We recommend you verify any/all coverage with your credit card company BEFORE you place an order and go on your trip.
Inclusive rates in countries like Italy, and others, usually include the CDW (collision damage waiver) and/or TP or TLW (theft protections or theft loss waiver) with a reduced deductible that can sometimes be reduced to zero by exercising an option to purchase additional "Super" CDW or "Super "TLW." Our e-mail quote to you should explain what's included in the rate and what options you may have at the time of delivery. You can also confirm details with one of our agents on the phone. |
| TOP |
 |
| |
Many credit cards cover the deductibles on collision or theft insurance, or both. Once you've verified coverage with your credit card issuer, you may opt to decline optional surcharges for CDW/TP/TLW when you pick up the car. If your credit card does not cover you for the deductibles on collision or theft insurance, our agents can estimate the charges for the optional CDW and/or TP or TLW. CDW varies from $12 to $25 per day, depending on car category and the exchange rate; TP/TLW ranges generally from $8 to $15 per day. |
| TOP |
 |
| |
Deductibles on car rentals vary based on the value of the car, and range from 5,000EUR for smaller cars and 20,000EUR+, or even the full value of the vehicle for high-end models. Optional CDW/TP/TLW is offered by the rental car companies to reduce, but not eliminate, these deductibles. Of course, if your credit card covers the deductibles, they will likely instruct you to decline the purchase of any additional insurances waivers (CDW/TP/TLW). Again, you should confirm coverage and policies with your credit card issuer before you place an order.
